Since the onset of COVID-19, Eastward Energy has continued to safely deliver natural gas to local residents and businesses. The safety of our employees, customers, and communities is always our top priority. While the emergence of COVID-19 has changed the way our field and office operations work, we’re always here to support our customers and the community.

Safety Measures

Eastward Energy has implemented a series of additional safety measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19. We expect these measures to be in place for the foreseeable future and thank you for working with us to help keep everyone safe. Additional safety measures include (but are not limited to):

  • Telephone and on-site screening
  • Physical distancing from other employees, customers and community members
  • Preventative hygiene measure including hand washing and personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Regular and comprehensive cleaning schedule
  • Working remotely and limiting travel

In Our Community

Our natural gas technicians continue to ensure we have a safe and reliable gas distribution system. They maintain safe operation of our natural gas system by monitoring customer gas meters, identifying underground gas lines through locate requests, activating new customers, and much more.

Our construction team has continued to install natural gas pipelines in our neighbourhoods, ensuring we are contributing to the growth of our communities. In the weeks ahead, when you see Eastward Energy teams doing construction work, please maintain a minimum distance of 6 feet. As businesses re-open and more people start mobilizing, we will continue to implement steps to maintain a flow of traffic and minimize disruption to all service areas.

In relation to COVID-19, Eastward Energy has proactively taken measures to protect the health and safety of our employees and our communities.

Please note that Eastward Energy offices will remain closed until further notice but we are committed to maintaining normal operations and will continue to provide reliable energy to all homes and businesses in the communities we serve. 

We are taking all steps recommended by our public health authority and by the provincial government. We have implemented the following actions:

  • Restricting business travel
  • Applying social distancing
  • Implementing recommended self-isolation practices
  • Cancelling group meetings and leveraging technology to continue communications
  • Practicing good hygiene
  • Heightening cleaning protocols

If preparing for a site visit: You may be asked by a Customer Care Representative or Field Technician about recent travel outside of Canada or your health status related to COVID-19, to enable us to provide service in your home. This information will be used for service purposes only and will not be stored.  We kindly ask that you notify us ahead of time if anyone at your home or business has flu-like symptoms or has travelled outside Canada in the last 14 days, so we can adequately protect our employees.

We are operating at a heightened level of emergency preparedness and staying closely connected to recommendations from public health authorities and medical experts.
