Eastward Energy is a Nova Scotia-based company that operates a full regulation class natural gas distribution franchise in Nova Scotia. The franchise gives Eastward Energy the exclusive right to distribute natural gas through its distribution system to all or part of seven counties in Nova Scotia, including the Halifax Regional Municipality.

Eastward Energy has taken several measures to secure a reliable supply of affordable natural gas for our customers. We have entered into long-term transportation contracts to bring natural gas to Nova Scotia from other regions of North America, including the Dawn Hub in Ontario and the Marcellus Shale region in Pennsylvania, where natural gas prices are low and stable. These contracts reduce both the seasonal price volatility and overall cost of the natural gas commodity. Despite the decommissioning of the offshore Nova Scotia natural gas supply, Eastward Energy has contracted for 20 years of pipeline capacity to access a reliable supply of natural gas for Nova Scotians.
